Boracay Island, known for its white cool sands and crystal blue waters, was inhabited by the Ati Tribe before colonization and they were highly dependent on fishing, coconut, cassava and potatoes as means of livelihood. Until it was discovered by backpackers in the 1970’s and became one of the famous backpacker’s hang-out in the 1980’s. Now, it is one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines for both foreign and domestic tourists.

The most famous stretch of beach area is in the island is White Beach, spanning four kilometers long of powdery sands. The area is composed of three sections where most hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars, and shops can be seen.
